She invited me to join her, and together in 2021, we took all the inspired, though sometimes clumsy, first steps of starting a business.Everything we built here, we built together.Every idea.Every client we worked with.Every offering.Every ceremony.Every word of the LifeProof relational perspective.Every episode of the podcast we so loved making. She is in all of it.She didn’t just teach this work. She lived it, right up until the very end when she Chose Love and Opted In to dying, with a smile on her lips and mischievous curiosity in her eye.I never knew death could be so beautiful.I’ll share more of the story soon, because I think it holds something meaningful for anyone who has death in their future. For today, I just wanted to make sure you knew. And I wanted to reassure your heart, because I know news like this can land heavily. Her passing was not sudden. It was peaceful.Dare I say...victorious.She died in the arms of her husband and four daughters, who had the unbelievable privilege to walk beside her all the way through, to hold her hand and help carry her home.I had no idea a goodbye could hold that much grace. And I will carry the gift of it for the rest of my life.A double-sided shorelineAnd here is the part that still takes my breath away.I am a double sided shoreline, waves crashing and lapping on two fronts...grieving the loss of my mother while I grow my daughter in my belly, her heart tucked into the arms of my rib cage.Jay’s and my daughter will be born while the veils are thinnest, 10/31/2026.A poetic dance of symmetry between life and death.I was perfectly in the middle of my pregnancy when Christy passed.Consider this with me for a moment...They’re both here in a similar way;on the other side of something, swimming in their own fractal versions of the cosmic mother ocean.I like to imagine both my own and my mother’s soulssitting, weaving at the cosmic loom,my daughter’s soul into her body, one cell at a time.In the coming weeks, I’ll write to you again, to share more of what unfolded, what I’m learning as I move through it, and where JourneyOn is heading next. There is so much I want to tell you.And I’ll do it gently,a little at a time. For now, thank you for being here.Thank you for being the kind of community where something this tender can be spoken out loud.It means more than you could possibly know.JourneyOn,- Kiley

A tender reflection on losing my mother, growing my daughter, and the strange symmetry of life and death. I’m sharing what happened, what my mother left with me, and what I’m learning as I move through this season of Mother-Daughter Metamorphosis.
